Team identity, made for the field of play.
I designed Team USA archery jerseys for the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The work carried a national identity into competition apparel, from early concepts and visual direction through production-ready artwork.
My contribution
SCOPE OF WORKConcept development
Exploring how Team USA’s identity could take shape across the competition jerseys.
Visual direction
Balancing national identity and Olympic branding requirements with the needs of performance apparel.
Production artwork
Preparing the designs for manufacture in collaboration with athletes, USA Archery, and apparel partners.
Identity with practical constraints
Competition apparel has to work as clothing and as a visible expression of the team. The design process considered performance requirements alongside national identity and Olympic branding standards. Those constraints shaped the visual direction as the concepts developed.
Carrying the design into production
The work continued beyond concept selection into production-ready artwork and collaboration with the people wearing and manufacturing the garments. The photographs show the designs in their intended setting: Team USA athletes competing.
